Jack's Boat Charter
This project was an exercise to develop a website and branding package for a fictional company based on a nautical theme. Overall, the project had to give off a masculine feel and showcase the several charter services provided by the company.
Upon entering the landing page, the visitor should immediately be aware of what the company is and what it provides. A large portion of the site within the first 600 vertical pixels were allocated to for images of boats to easily communicate to the User that this is a charter company. The logo was placed on the top left corner to create an "F" pattern with the navigation and attract the eye.
The layout of the site was done in Illustrator and color correction and image enhancing techniques with different layer styles and blending modes were done in Photoshop. All assets were imported into Illustrator where techniques such as clipping masks were used to incorporate the images.
A layout for a responsive mobile version of the site was also made. The navigation turned into a collapsed toggle menu so the User can see the different options clearly as well as to save real estate on a limited mobile view for other information presented on the site.
Since a nautical theme had to be used for this project, the idea of using a ship's wheel and nautical compass was implemented into the company's logo. A dark shade of blue was chosen for the logo to link with a more masculine feel as well as to represent water or the ocean, as the company provides boat chartering services.
A sans-serif font was chosen for the logo to give a more modern look since more traditional elements are already represented in the logo from the steering wheel and the compass.
